With
the groom's father, Max Baucus, having served the
state for decades in the U.S. Senate, the groom having
spent summers here near the family's ranch, and the
bride and groom's desire to share their love of Big
Sky with their friends, Montana was the obvious
choice for this couple's June wedding!
Their wedding was the perfect blend of a
wedding at home and a destination wedding.
Guests from Montana, Stephanie's home state of
Tennessee, and from around the nation gathered in Big
Sky Country for the celebration. The wedding
showcased Montana, with a hike led by Senator Baucus
the morning of the wedding, the casual Montana style
Bar-B-Que rehearsal dinner, and the elegant, black tie
wedding and reception. The couple exchanged vows
outdoors under blue skies and in 70-degree weather,
though it had snowed almost a foot 2 days before!
Following the ceremony and an indoor cocktail hour,
the wedding guests moved into a room for a wonderful
dinner that featured fabulous centerpieces of red
roses and imported peonies, dramatic red lighting,
flickering candles, and a 7-piece band.
Gum-paste magnolia blossoms, a nod to Stephanie’s
Tennessee roots, adorned the red velvet wedding cake,
made from the bride's Southern family's recipe.
While this couple may live in the nation's capital,
their wedding made it obvious to guests why the Last
Best Place will always be home in their hearts."
